1. Make sure you have enough funds in your account

If your account balance is low or empty, you can add funds by following these steps:

  • Open the Cash App on your phone.
  • Tap on the “Balance” tab located at the bottom of the screen.
  • Select “Add Cash” and enter the desired amount you want to add.
  • Follow the instructions provided on the screen to link a debit card or bank account to your Cash App account.
  • Complete the transfer by following the prompts and verifying the transaction.

2. Locate a gas station with Square Sellers

Since not all gas stations accept Cash App as a payment method, it’s important to find a gas station in your area that does. You can do this by conducting a quick online search or by contacting local gas stations to inquire about their acceptance of Cash App as a payment option.

3. Use Cash App at gas station without card

Once you have identified a gas station that accepts Cash App as a payment method, paying for your gas is a straightforward process. Just follow these steps:

  • Open the Cash App and tap on the Payments $ tab. This will take you to the home screen.
  • Tap on the QR Scanner located in the top left corner of the screen.
  • Use the QR scanner to scan the QR code displayed at the gas station’s point of sale, typically provided by Square Sellers.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete your payment using Cash App at the gas station without a physical card.

4. Make a direct Cash App transfer

In rare cases where a gas station on Cash App doesn’t have a QR code, you can still make a direct transfer using their $cash tag. Treat it as a regular bank transfer, but instead of an account number, you’ll need to enter their username.

Once you’ve entered their username, you’ll be prompted to provide your transaction key to complete the transfer. Show the gas station the receipt to finalize your purchase as you would normally.

However, using this direct transfer method is uncommon among gas stations. Most Cash App-accepting stations will have a QR code available. Additionally, you always have the option to link your Cash App to popular payment methods like Apple Pay or Google Pay for convenience.
