Why is a payment I received on Cash App pending?

Cash App not letting you receive money? If a payment you received and accepted is still pending, the following could be the reasons:

1. The payment has not yet been accepted

If a payment is still in “Pending” status, it indicates that the other party hasn’t accepted or processed the transfer, and you may have the option to cancel it. However, once the transaction has been cleared on your end, you won’t have that option.

Remember, this status doesn’t reflect whether the funds have been deducted from the source account, which can take a few business days, even if funds have been provisionally credited to the target account.

Always monitor your actual available balance to prevent your account from going into a negative state.

Note that Cash App pending may still be pending even if the recipient has accepted it. If they can verify that they accepted it but that it’s still pending, the problem is on their end. That could be other reasons explained below.

2. Account is unverified

If you’re a user with an unverified account, you’re limited to sending and receiving USD 1000 per month or USD 250 per week. If you try to exceed this limit, the Cash App may block the transaction or place the payment in the ‘Pending’ list. This can also cause a common problem like Cash App payment completed but not received.

3. Cash App connectivity issues

It appears that there may be some connectivity issues with the Cash App at present. There have been a few other recent posts regarding difficulties with sending/receiving. Cash App confirms that they’re having temporary “connection issues” so hopefully, this will be resolved as soon as connections are restored. Cash App typically shares updates via the Cash App status checker.

4. It’s a pre-authorization hold

If you accept a pending payment on Cash App but it is not added to your balance, it could be a pre-authorization hold. Sometimes, the funds are reimbursed within hours and Cash App does this check a ton recently, causing suspicious payments to pend for hours and up to days. If Cash App determines any suspicious activity, they can cancel the transaction, and reverse the funds to the sending Cash App balance or bank account.

5. Other reasons

The problem might be stemming from your side. If that’s the case, consider the following steps:

  • Ensure that your mobile device and the application are both upgraded to the latest versions.
  • Reboot your mobile device.
  • Forcefully close the app on your device and then log back in.
  • Uninstall the app, re-download it, and then log back in.

Should the issue continue even after implementing these steps, don’t hesitate to contact the support team for further assistance.

How do I know if my Cash App payment was accepted?

Fake Cash App pending payment — user beware

Cash App, like any platform, encounters its own set of problems, with fake Cash App pending payments being a major concern.

In such scenarios, a sender’s transaction displays as pending, leading you to believe that a fund transfer is underway. However, this might be a deceitful display, often carried out by con artists trying to trick you into believing that you’ve received funds that Cash App is about to release.

These scam artists often fabricate these phony pending payment screenshots as part of their ploy to convince a seller that payment for goods or services has been transferred and is merely awaiting Cash App’s clearance. The transaction appears as pending on their fabricated Cash App activity tab, but it won’t reflect on yours because they can’t manipulate your account.

Therefore, if a payment shows as pending on your Cash App, it typically indicates a problem, such as the need for additional verification. However, if it doesn’t appear on your Cash App, it’s highly likely that the sender never initiated the transfer, to begin with.
